The evidence is the product
Anyone can tell you what your software costs. The number that survives a conversation with your CFO is the one that comes with a reason attached, so Reassign records how it knew — in a sentence, with a timestamp — and keeps that record even if the person and the campaign are later deleted.
- Somebody said so. The strongest evidence there is, and the only kind no report could have produced. If a licence is used once a quarter for something that matters, no usage log will ever tell you — but the person will.
- Nobody has touched it. Where the export carries activity data, Reassign judges a seat only over the time its current holder has actually had it — so a licence handed over last week isn’t condemned for the last holder’s habits.
- They already left. One HR file marks leavers across every application at once, which no per-application seat list can do.
- Nothing is claimed twice. A seat that had already been removed at the vendor before Reassign looked is recorded as exactly that. It frees the seat and it stays out of the savings figure, because it wasn't ours to claim.
- A month is settled when it ends. Each month owns what was found in it. Nothing recalculates later, so no report you have already sent can quietly change underneath you.
- No evidence, no claim. A licence dropped without a recorded reason still counts in the total, but is credited to no method of finding it.
